THE MIRROR/SPECCHIO BOOK
This book forms the concluding chapter of Mirror/Specchio, an experimental curatorial project developed for Agrigento Capitale Italiana della Cultura 2025, which transformed Teatro Luigi Pirandello into a space where contemporary visual art intersected with the conventions of the operatic stage.

With a script narrated from the perspective of the stray cat Surfaro as its central text, the book captures the project’s experience by mirroring various elements with one another: the city of Agrigento, water, films, photographs, music, and the audience. Drawing on the visual language of historic opera posters and programme booklets, the design merges these historical references with a contemporary aesthetic, balancing ornamental framing devices with a clean and understated graphic approach. A recurring blue thread and blue separators reference water as the project’s overarching motif, creating a visual rhythm that flows throughout the book.
